Through a subtle interplay of relief and transparency, this table reimagines the concept of the Moucharabieh, adding an artistic dimension to its design. With this piece, Atelier MACHOT presents a delightful blend of the aesthetic of the Moucharabieh, Japanese printing motifs, and the mastery of the interplay between relief and transparency.
Atelier MACHOT intentionally broke away from the original idea, drawing inspiration from a Japanese printing motif. This motif was reworked in three dimensions to create a captivating sense of depth. The use of solid wood allows the motif to be sculpted while preserving its natural essence and character.
To play on the contrast between transparency and line, Atelier MACHOT used resin. This clever combination gives depth to the tabletop and the entire table, revealing its beauty from all angles and in different lighting, imparting a mysterious dimension.
The Moucharabieh table is made of solid white ash from sustainably managed French sources. The resin used creates a striking contrast with the wood, highlighting the beauty and complexity of the piece.
